On this Wednesday, January 13, 2010, I would like to wish my Sorors, the devastating divas of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated a Happy Founders Day.  We’ve come so far.

Ninety-seven years ago, 22 amazing women on the campus of Howard University founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority with the mission of being a group of college educated women committed to public service.  Since then, we’ve increased in ranks and have grown to well over 200,000 members with over 900 chapters across the world, who are still committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

For those who aren’t Greek, I know you may not understand what this is all about or may not see the purpose of why someone would want to be in a Greek letter organization, but that’s okay.  To each its own.  I know why I chose Delta, and why Delta chose me.

Although, I am a baby in Delta compared to some of the women in my family like my Mom (who’s 40 years in), my Aunt Pat (who’s 46 years in) and my Aunt Mary (who’s 38 years in) I have grown so much in Delta.  I’m looking forward to my journey in Delta and I know the best is yet to come!

Special prayers to Soror National President Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre who underwent surgery in December.  Here’s to her speedy recovery.

Happy Founders Day!
