summerdateideasI can’t believe May is here and summer will be here in a month.  I love summer not only because I was born in the hottest season but it’s also the time when you’ll have the most fun dating, whether you’re single or in a relationship.

During the warmer months there are so many things to do like Jazz in The Garden at the National Gallery of Art, Wine Festivals, Twilight Tours in and around the city, and paddle boating on the Potomac, just to name a few.

As a self-proclaimed foodie I love to eat but there are so many more things to do in the DC besides going to restaurants.  Living here, people fail to take advantage of all this great city has to offer.

Here’s a listing of some of the upcoming events/activities that are free or low cost and perfect for a date.

1.) Linganore Wine Festival (May, June, July, August)
2.) Screen on the Green
3.) Join a League (Kickball, Softball, Bocce, etc)
4.) Kayak Tours (Try Key Bridge Boathouse known as Jack’s Boathouse)
5.) Walking Tours (i.e. Monticello, Old Town Alexandria, Annapolis)
6.) Miniature Golf (H Street Country Club)
7.) Visit a Museum or a Garden (Smithsonian Museums are FREE! The Corcoran is free for Summer Saturdays, Tudor Place)
8.) Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (FREE Performances Daily)
9.) Take a stroll & have a picnic in Rock Creek Park
10.) Volunteer Outdoors (check out orgs like Capital Cause, Hands on Greater DC Cares, Volunteer Match)

Yes, I listed volunteering as #10 on my list.  Sure it may not be a traditional date but it’s a great way to feel someone out.  I’m extremely into community service, so I find it a good way to see how others react to certain situations.  I wouldn’t advise this as a first date, perse, but it’s also a great way to learn more about someone you’re interested in and find out what causes you both care about.

Let the summer dating season begin.
